About This Repair Shop

A Pembroke Pines Tradition Since 1980

In South Florida, the growing season never truly stops, and neither does the demand on your outdoor power equipment. Founded in 1980 by the Engel family, Bitter Blue Lawn & Garden has spent over four decades serving as the mechanical backbone for both Pembroke Pines homeowners and commercial landscaping crews. With 43 years of skin in the game, owner Leo Engel and his team provide the kind of "old school" technical expertise that only comes from nearly half a century at the workbench.

Whether you’re a residential gardener or a professional contractor managing a fleet of tractors, we understand that down-time isn't just an inconvenience—it’s a hurdle to getting the job done. We’ve built our reputation on being a reliable, local fixture where neighbors can bring their toughest engine troubles for a fair shake and an honest fix.

Mastery Over Every Small Engine

From modern zero-turns to legacy tractors that have been in your family for years, we approach every repair with informed confidence. Our technicians don’t just swap parts; they diagnose the root of the issue to ensure your equipment survives the Florida heat and humidity.

Our Specialized Maintenance and Repair Services:

  • Precision carburetor cleaning and fuel system restoration for ethanol-related issues.
  • Full-service engine tune-ups for tractors, walk-behind mowers, and generators.
  • High-precision sharpening for mower blades and chainsaws to ensure a professional finish.
  • Complex system repairs for jetters, pressure washers, and commercial-grade blowers.
  • Authorized service and sales for an extensive range of brands, including Bad Boy Mowers, Encore, Briggs & Stratton, and Toro.

The Bitter Blue Edge

What truly sets us apart is our massive inventory of parts and our deep familiarity with a vast catalog of brands that most shops won't touch. While others might struggle with off-brand or specialty equipment, we service everything from Ryobi and Poulan to heavy-duty MTD and Troy-Bilt machines. Because we are both a repair center and an equipment dealer, we have the resources to source components quickly and get your gear back on the turf.

A Trusted Community Partner

The vibe at Bitter Blue is professional, knowledgeable, and grounded in the community. We pride ourselves on the personal touches—like mid-repair phone updates from our technicians—that keep you in the loop. We aren't interested in a quick sale; we’re interested in being the team you trust for the next 40 years. When your equipment needs to be "brought back to life," the Engel family is ready to help you get back to work.

I’ve been running a local landscaping crew in Pembroke Pines for nearly a decade, and Bitter Blue is the only place I trust with my zero-turns. When a machine goes down, it costs me money every hour it's in the shop, but Leo and his team understand that urgency. They have a massive parts inventory on hand, which is a lifesaver because I don't have to wait weeks for a special order to ship. Their expertise with commercial brands like Bad Boy and Encore is unmatched in South Florida. They’ve kept my fleet running through some of the toughest growing seasons, and I appreciate the technical updates they give me while the work is in progress. Highly recommended for anyone who makes a living with their gear.

Expert lawn equipment repair in Pembroke Pines — I wish I didn't have to leave a star, this company is scamming customers. Performing services on equipments, that's not needed and charging customers for new parts, while using old parts. I bought 3 equipments and told them EXACTLY what I needed done, they said okay. A couple of days later I returned to pick up my items; they charge me over $300. I was upset because I didn't get a call with this information. The lady at the front desk pointed at a letter that was CLEARLY Not meant for customers to see). And said that these are the charges for the services performed and that they don't call customers with prices, they just fix the problem.

I have an old garden tractor that has been in my family for years, and most of the newer shops in the area wouldn't even look at it because it’s a 'legacy' model. I brought it to Bitter Blue, and the experience was night and day. Since they’ve been in business since the 80s, they actually knew how to work on the older engine without just telling me to buy a new one. They did a full fuel system restoration and a carburetor cleaning to get rid of the gunk from the ethanol gas. It hasn't run this smoothly since I can remember.

The Florida humidity is absolutely brutal on small engines, and I learned the hard way that you can’t just let a mower sit without proper maintenance. After my pressure washer and walk-behind mower both failed to start this spring, I took them to the Engel family. They were incredibly professional and walked me through exactly what needed to be done to get them back in shape. They even gave me some great advice on fuel stabilizers to prevent future issues
