The Congregration Agudath Achim is also in Taunton and is one of the oldest Jewish synagogues in the commonwealth.
The Old Colony Historical Society operates out of Taunton in the Church Green area. The Society is home to a museum dedicated to the history of the region. A genealogy research center is also on site.
There are more than a hundred structures in Taunton listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Bristol County Superior Courthouse is the most popular of the sites. The late-nineteenth century courthouse features a series of bright domes and is currently a nesting spot for peregrine falcons.
The Silver City Galleria is a prominent commercial site in Taunton. The mall features nearly a hundred retail stores.

The Taunton and Mill Rivers take up much of the water. Lake Sabbatia appears to the north, while the Assawompset Pond is to the southeast.
Taunton has a population of about 55,000. Nearly a third of the city’s population is connected to Portugal by birth or ancestry.
